A note from the chair of governors- Derek King
Croeso i Springwood. Springwood Primary is a friendly, happy, inclusive school. We are hardworking, striving for excellence and committed to doing the very best for our children and families: only the best is good enough.
We currently have 240 pupils on role, this include 22 pupils in our LA Specialist Resource Base for pupils on the autistic spectrum. These pupils are welcomed into our mainstream classes by pupils and staff to ensure that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
We have approximately 37% of pupils entitled to Free School Meals, a number of mainstream pupils with statements for Additional Educational Needs and a good percentage of very able pupils who are effectively challenged and supported to exceed expectations.
We are a strong team of reflective practitioners who engage in classroom based inquiry, school to school working, research and professional development so that we are effectively working towards excellent pedagogy and education while preparing for the major changes within education in Wales. Springwood has a strong Governing Body who offer robust challenge and support, the Governing Body fully engage with school improvement and further developing community engagement.
