Have you ever wondered how the red dragon ended up on our flag?
Watch out for our amazing stories that will tell you all about Ddraig Goch!
Don't forget to come and see us perform at our Eisteddfod on 2nd March at 9am.
We will be singing and reciting poems in welsh and about wales. Plus we are having an Art and Handwriting competition too.
Chinese New Year
We had so much fun celebrating Chinese New Year!
We learned the story of the big race off by heart and then have a go at acting it out.
We found out all about life in china and how Chinese people prepare and celebrate!
We learned greetings in Mandarin, how to preform a lion dance and how to make yummy noodles and Chinese rice to eat with chopsticks.
We loved to use brushes and ink to write our names in Chinese symbols and we even taught our mums and dads.
Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came fo out afternoon of chinese celebrations, we were super impressed when you rid all the activities with us.
Mathmateg
In maths the children will be working on fractions.
We have a new pizza shop in the classroom and we will be sharing the pizzas into halves and quarters.
We will also be learning to tell the time on an analogue and a digital clock. help us at home by getting us to recognise O'clock and half past times.
We will be using money to pay for items and will need to know what all the coins look like. We will practice buying and selling things and giving change using real coins! Help us to pay for things at the shop and encourage us to choose the right coins.
Where the Wild Things Are
In Literacy, we will be using this wonderful picture book to investigate emotions and use our imaginations in a very creative way.
We will explore imaginary worlds, design crazy creatures and travel to unexpected places. Building dens in forest school, describing and sketching and making sculptures will help us to be creative, inventive and make out own worlds come to life.
In RE we will be learning about Jonah and the Big Fish!
We will imagine what it was like to be inside a great beast for all that time.
we will relate Jonah's story to things that happen in our lives. For example when we are asked to do something we don't want to do, like tidying our rooms or playing with little brothers and sisters.
We will also learn about 'The Lost Sheep' another bible story. We will talk about how we feel when we lose things. we can tell stories about when we might have got lost and how that made us feel.
In year 1 pupils bring in £1 every week, or 20p a day for their snack. They can choose between banana, apple or orange and toast on a Friday.
