Year 3

Class 3

 

Welcome back. I hope you all had a lovely summer break. We are now 3 weeks in and it is amazing to see how settled the children are. They have made an amazing transition from the Foundation Phase to Key Stage 2.

 

Key information

 

PE is on a Wednesday and Thursday, but during October we will be attending Cardiff Met for Sport sessions on a Tuesday. The children will need to wear their sports kit for these sessions. We will also have Forest Schools every Friday, so pupils will need to wear appropriate clothing. Homework will be given out on a Friday, along with reading books, but the children are encouraged to change their book as often as possible.

Attendance

 

We were runners up again in the attendance cup with just over 95%.

 

Pupil of the week (15/10/21)

 

Cody was our pupil of the week as he confidently explained his mental strategy for solving addition calculations.

Learning update (19/10/21)

 

 

Over the last 2 weeks the children have adapted fantastically to having to change classroom, as ours was undertaking a renovation. We have now moved back in to the new and improved Year 3 classroom, something the children are loving. They have continued to thrive in the outdoors, although we did get a bit carried away on the salt and pepper seasoning for last week's soup. We have recently started our kite investigation and have decided we want to find out if the shape, size and material will impact the kite's ability to fly. The pupil's thoroughly enjoyed trying to fly kites on our field, but they decided that picking a day with no wind was not a good idea. Maybe we will have better luck next time. In literacy we have began giving, following and writing instructions and in numeracy we have started developing mental strategies for adding 2 digit numbers.
